March 22, 2008 peter Being picky I know, but just in case anyone cuts and pastes from PeopleGeek note the typo in msconfig: In Windows XP Click on "Start" Click "Run" As many others have commented safe mode doesnt work and I can no longer load normal mode after checking safe mode in msconfig. If so you need to go into the Bios (f8) and set usb keboard and also to boot to the cd rom select, first boot device cd, second hard drive ect. sasja nice, a few days ago I was thinking why is it so difficult to get into safe mode? page I was planning on editing the boot.ini file (or whatever is needed to get the original settings back), but I can't find the appropriate files. Unlike Safe Mode, the Start Up Repair started automatically which corrected the fault and allowed me to restart my computer which corrected the problem, but I'd like to restore the option I kept my friend in a positive frame of mind, telling him that he would have a squeeky clean new OS, fast and free of rubbish.
